I'm five days into a one week self imposed Vegetable Flush.....limited fruit (breakfast only) limited potato, no grains, no animal fat and no diary. That means I'll be ready for ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and apple pie for this weekend!!! And, of course, I'll be tipping a couple to the brave men and women who gave their all so that we could have the freedom that we are enjoying. Soooo, what are your plans for this holiday?

I seasoned up two racks (split) of 3 lb each Baby Backs from The Fresh Market. The one on the right has Penzey's Breakfast Sausage seasoning and the other three have kosher salt, applewood smoked pepper, granulated garlic & onion and smoked paprika. They went on at 250°, just some HD foil for a barrier, with a mix of apple and cherry chips. Four and a half hours later I gave the three on the left a spritz of the agave/soy/lime juice mix I'd made up earlier. Left them on another 20 minutes and then pulled them. I don't know what happened, I didn't get photo of the plating I rarely forget that I think senility is finally setting in Any way, they were served with blue cheese pot salad, zucchini pickles and cheddar buttermilk biscuits I was surprised, the ones seasoned with the breakfast sausage seasoning was very bland I'd expected more,,,oh well However, Jon Bessemer saved the day by sending me a bottle of Uncle Ralph's 'hot' Magic Sauce and that made the Penzey's ribs quite a bit tastier
