Beautiful ODK. I am getting ready to start. At my pace it will only take 3 or 4 years to finish. Unfortunately work interfers with pleasure. My question. What heat shield are you using around the Primos. Obviously you do not cook with the doors closed but do you wait untill it is totaly cool when before you close them? Also is the back open? I was thinking of making the frame out of aluminum studs and using tile underlayment board for the sides. I am concerned about the clearance on the sides of the cabinet close to the primo. Many thanks for your help. Tucker

Beautiful ODK. I am getting ready to start. At my pace it will only take 3 or 4 years to finish. Unfortunately work interfers with pleasure. My question. What heat shield are you using around the Primos. Tucker, I used a fiber-cement type shield. I think it was called Hardie Boards or Hardy Planks. Actually, I DO cook with the doors closed. The doors are lourved and vented, which allows the air supply that I need to come in. However, when I'm done cooking, I do open the doors to let some of the heat out. The back is CLOSED. I think the aluminum studs would be a great idea. As far as clearance, I would suggest at least 3" on each side, about the same for the front and the back would depend on what type of grill and the space you need for opening and closing the lid.
