Is buying a Corned Beef "Point" worth the effort? I bought just a tad over 7 pounds at 99¢ lb. Soaked over night in cold water, changing it twice, to leech out some of the salt. Added pepper and garlic, smoked at 250° for 6 hours until 175° internal. Wrapped in foil over night. All sliced up with a yield of 2 lbs 2½ oz. Figures out to roughly $3.18 lb for the end product. So YES, not too bad of a deal, but I wouldn't spend much more than the 99¢ lb that I spent for it. Had I cooked this longer and rendered out more of the fat, the cost per pound of the sliced would've increased exponentially.
