A whole-foods plant-based diet is vegan, but a vegan diet is not whole-foods plant-based. There are plenty of junk food vegans out there slamming potato chips, french fries, Oreo cookies, vegan pies and cakes, transition foods, nuts by the bagful and coconut milk based ice-cream and sauces. The difference is the amounts of fat, salt and sugar. WFPB people avoid these things. Even tahini is avoided which, along with olive oil, is a main ingredient in traditional hummus. Vegans eat vegan for different reasons than WFPB people. Vegans eat vegan for political reasons. To save the planet and save the animals. Health is of little concern here. WFPB'd people eat WFPB for health. Nobody likes a pushy vegan forcing his/her politics down their throats. That includes WFPB's people. High fat nut sauces are avoided as is oil Why no oil in a whole foods plant-based diet
