Turns out my doctor had been vegan for almost 10 years when he began beating around the bush before actually telling me about this diet. He mentioned perhaps I should consider a plant based diet without explaining what that meant. I originally took it to mean a vegetarian diet and he didn't bother to correct me. I had to do the research myself then drag it out of him because he didn't think I would comply. Why? Because nobody does, or did. That was 7 years ago.
Things are a little bit different today I guess but it's hardly mainstream.
I looked into seeing a plant based doctor. A doctor who had plant based training. I found one about an hours drive from me. He accepted no insurance and demanded a HUMONGOUS monthly fee. Not a fee per visit, a monthly fee. A few grand I think. So if your part of the lucky upper 1% you can afford real wellness care.
