Parents who force a vegan diet on to their children would face prison under a new law proposed in Italy. This proposed law nicely illustrates two major issues with a vegan diet. The first being how little people understand about human nutrition on the legislative side. With this proposed legislation, "radicalized" parents would face up to two years in prison for providing their children a "diet lacking essential elements for an healthy growth". This proposed legislation statement is nonsense based on fear, ignorance, and a healthy input from the dairy, egg, and meat lobbies. That said, anyone can be a parent. Including the nutritionally ignorant. If readers here have gone through the material presented on this forum, discussions of proper plant-based nutrition have all been briefly covered here. It seems odd to me that there is no corresponding legislation in Italy to jail parents who feed their children huge amounts of fat, sugar, and salt. You know those parents. American parents. I'm sure Italy has their quota. The second being how little people understand about human nutrition on the parental side. No one should take part in such a "radicalized diet" as one without meat, dairy, and eggs without some understanding of what human nutrition is. There are requirements that one must be aware of. These requirements do not include the excesses of sugar, salt, and fat like those in standard American diet (SAD) we love so well. Thank goodness for overly processed and fast foods. Those industries have our backs and by "living" on their fine products we'll never have to worry about prison time.
