I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm posting in the right location. I recently got some pork fat from the local butcher to make some deer sausage. I didn't use all of my pork fat and still have a couple pounds left. The fat was frozen when I got it from the butcher and it has never been thawed. I want to know how long the fat will last in the freezer? I also have a food saver vacuum sealer if that will increase the shelf light.
I am aware if you render it down to lard it will last a long time.

Welcome to the forum As long as it's never been thawed and you vacuum seal it, it should last a good three years in the freezer, plus or minus. I save beef and pork fat all time and never had a problem with it being vac packed and frozen.

Thanks,
Its never been thawed. It was all frozen when I ground a portion of it up to use in my sausage. Its currently still sitting in the packaging from the butcher but I'm going to remove it from the freezer and vacuum seal it up and throw back in the freezer. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to go bad before I vacuum sealed it. I've only had it for a week now.
thanks again,
