Rumrunner's All-purpose BBQ Sauce
2 cups catsup (store brand is fine) 1 cup brown sugar* ½ cup apple cider vinegar ¼ cup cheap yellow mustard ¼ cup Dijon mustard
¼ cup chile powder (the blend, not the straight 'chiles') 1 TBS mesquite liquid smoke 1 TBS ground black pepper 1 TBS garlic salt 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce 1 TBS hot sauce* (I like Frank's) 1 TBS maple syrup 1 tsp celery salt ¼ cup bourbon (optional)
Mix together the first five ingredients in a medium sauce pan; bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Lower heat to a simmer and whisk in the remaining ingredients. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking or burning. Check for taste preference now.
*Add some more brown sugar for a sweeter sauce or add some #80 cayenne pepper for more tang.
Good all around sauce for brisket, ribs, pulled pork, etc.
Makes approximately one quart.

Definitely... might up the maple syrup to 1/4 cup, use some chipotle hot sauce to give it a bit more smokiness instead of the regular hotsauce, down the brown sugar a touch too...
